For a group of long-time friends, Five Suns Brewing began as a hobby. All five of the owners and graduates of Alhambra High School were raised in Martinez.

In 2008, they began brewing on a stove top, spent several years homebrewing in each other’s garages, and gradually shared their beer in their neighborhood to benefit local fundraisers and events.

By renovating an old building in downtown Martinez, which took most of a year … and many, many weekends, Five Suns decided to go to the next level. Monday through Friday, all five owners worked their day jobs (and a few still do), and then spent every single weekend building the brewery up to what you see today. Now, everyone can enjoy the atmosphere of our tasting room, friendly conversation and a cold beer made locally!

They produce beer at Five Suns Brewing that is unique and refreshing in a laid back atmosphere. They have a passion for local craft beer. California has become one of the United States’ leading brewing states, and we are delighted to be part of it. Since they believe variety is the spice of life, our beers are classic, off-centered, or completely fresh.

They are Martinez CA’s community of local friends. In 2017, Dennis, Jess, Nick, Mike, and Sean opened Five Suns Brewing in the midst of a lack of downtown craft beer venues and an increasing enthusiasm for beer brewing.

There are plenty of ways to approach fermentation. Several modern brewing companies can buy jacket equipment that allows temperature control by glycol pumps.

They agreed that it was simpler and less costly for us to start out with an entire room that will hold our beer at fermentation temperatures. They will develop this space gradually, but it will make sense for our pilot approach.

The entire room has over 6 inches of polyiso foam and with LG AC units and coolbot controllers is temperature controlled. It has easy access to the floor drain and profits from our great epoxy flowering system.
