Matteo’s Dream is an all-abilities playground in an urban park in Concordia, California. It opened on May 16, 2007. Matteo Henderson was a boy with serious disabilities including blindness, cerebral palsy, and cognitive development. He used a wheelchair for transportation. Matteo and many other children of all abilities have enjoyed the playground. Persons with disabilities can drive their wheelchairs directly onto the structure. Features of the playground are specially engineered to accommodate people with various disabilities.
Matteo, who used a wheelchair and was blind. More than 1,500 volunteers came together to build the playground in just eight days. Sadly, Matteo passed away in 2011. Over the years, the playground has been enjoyed by thousands of children of all abilities, has been the venue for numerous events, and was the inspiration for Lions Clubs International’s award-winning Tournament of Roses parade float in 2014.
Matteo’s Dream Playground is an interesting spot because there are many different features of the course that make it difficult for players with shotmaking difficulties in tricky situations. Additionally, water hazards come into play on several holes throughout our course which makes Matteo’s Dream Playground an interesting spot to visit if you want your game tested out!

The Matteo Dream Playground is one of the most inclusive playgrounds you’ll ever see. Designed specifically to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, crutches or any other mobility device children might need to play freely alongside others of their same age group without feeling different than anyone else, this playground has something for everyone!
There are few places in the world where kids with disabilities can play alongside their peers without feeling different. The Matteo Dream Playground is one of those special places.
