St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

1924 Trinity Ave, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, United States

St. Paul’s is a Christian church group that is open and affirming We welcome those who seek a place at the table of God. They are a community of faith that demands not blind faith, not unthinking obedience, but a reflective, conscientious commitment to a life of love. They consider cohesion in shared practice, not in coerced agreement. They have not all of the answers and we welcome questions. They’re a place of love and hope, not of hatred and terror. Faith, in Jesus ‘ tradition, is a path, not an occurrence or activity; a way of life, not merely a declaration of belief.

They believe God loves you–no exceptions. They believe in upholding Jesus Christ’s teachings, whose life, death and resurrection saved the earth. As Episcopalians, we believe in a God who loves, liberates and gives life: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

They have a tradition of inclusion, seeking to say and demonstrate the love of God for every human being; in our church women and men serve as bishops, priests and deacons. In all levels of our church, laypeople and the clergy collaborate as members.

In 1887, five families from the Walnut Creek area persuaded the Rt. The first Bishop of California, Rev. William Kip, founded a local Episcopal Church. St. Paul’s mission converted into a parish church on September 26, 1944. In 1953 our new church in Walnut Creek was dedicated as the cornerstone. St. Paul’s celebrated its centenary in 1987, and all our former rectors and their families came for four weekends to celebrate. In 2018 we named the eighth rector of St. Paul’s The Rev. Krista Fregoso.

In Walnut Creek, California, they are a beloved group of over 130 years. There is continuity in their congregation: many parishioners have been a part of St. Paul’s for decades.

We are descendants of and allies of the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church as founding members of the Anglican Communion in the United States. We are part of the world’s third-largest population of Christians.

Episcopalians believe in upholding the teachings of Jesus Christ who saved the earth from sin, death and resurrection. We believe in a God who loves, liberates and gives life: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

They have a tradition of inclusion that aspires to say and exemplify the love of God for every human being; in our church, women and men serve as bishops, priests and deacons. In all levels of our church, laypeople and the clergy collaborate as members. Leadership is a gift from Heaven and can be demonstrated by all people in our faith, irrespective of their sexual orientation.
