The Upper Big Springs, Seaview, and Quarry Trails Circular is a moderately frequented 5.1-kilometer loop path near Berkeley, California that contains magnificent wildflowers. The trail is open all year and is popular for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird viewing. This pathway is also suitable for dogs.

A well-worn dirt trail that is wide all the way around. With alternating shade forests and sunny open views, it’s ideal for a chilly sunny day. At prime viewing locations, there are benches. There were a lot of people about, but it wasn’t overly crowded. Birds and lizards abound. The road leading up to the trailhead is closed, but it’s a short, paved walk from the gate. A small parking lot for about 20 cars is also available at the base.

There was a nice small hill at the start of the trek. There was some foot traffic, but not too so. Because there is virtually little shade, carry plenty of water.

Views of the Bay include the Golden Gaye Bridge, the San Francisco skyline, the Bay Bridge, and Alcatraz. The San Pablo Dam can also be seen to the east.

There are a lot of wildflowers. Very lovely.

The trail is well-traveled. Mountain bikes, trail runners, and families are all present. No trouble because the trails are wide.

There are numerous trail options to lengthen or shorten your hike.

In one or two areas, the views are breathtaking. Aside from that, it’s nothing spectacular. A trek would be too rocky and boring.

Excellent path. Fantastic views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the San Pablo Reservoir. There was a Coyote at the start of the trail, and it was a little rocky, but it was still a nice trip.

There’s a lot of shelters here, but there’s also some sun. From the ridge, you can see San Francisco, the Bay, and the bridges.

There are various shaded areas and wildflowers along this large pathway. There is some climbing and height gain to get to views of San Pablo Reservoir and Tilden on both sides.

On the Seaview route, it was an easy 3.8 miles with lots of views of SF, then quarry back to the car.

This is a broad, well-maintained trail with numerous trail connections and viewpoints. Rocks and dry dirt, with a few wildflowers thrown in for good measure.
