Booking a Group Picnic Area. There are many places you can book and get a permit for a group picnic area. Reserved picnics can be scheduled up to 120 days beforehand. If your picnic date you have picked is more than 120 days out, you can not book your picnic. Picnic areas do have to be reserved at least five days prior to the day of the gathering.

Dogs can be off-leash at the north end of the park’s dog area. The pets will be on leash in all other parts of the park. Assets are not allowed on ball fields. This is a massive, amazing park. It is populated by a very large population of gooses and everywhere there is goose poop. The field surrounding the pond is prevalent.

It’s a lovely park with a lovely playground for kids up to high. It’s pretty big, and can accommodate many kids. This playground is also ideal for children with disabilities or special needs. Various picnic tables and sports such as basketball and volleyball are open. Decently clean restrooms. The park has water fountains which have fillers for bottles as well. There are some places for photo ops which would be awesome. This would be a good place for the backdrop while you are doing photoshoots. Also though this park has several developed areas, it still acts as an oasis of nature for the local animals. Although the cement pond is all right, there is another pond where you can see half-shell turtles. And of course there’s the fowl that’s living here, pooping around the house. Getting out of your house and taking some fresh air or exercising to continue your day is a perfect walk.

Heather Farm Park was first used as a ranch for training thoroughbred racing horses. The City of Walnut Creek bought 50 acres of the original ranch and mixed it with 5 acres donated to the new 102-acre Heather Farm Park by Phil and Ruth Bancroft.

Heather Farm Park is the location for Walnut Creek’s annual Art and Wine Festival, which recently hosted its 37th season. It also has baseball grounds, a basketball court, a football court, soccer track, skate park, equestrian centre, and a swimming pool where you could see any aspiring synchronized swimmers.

Picnic area for the community is for reservation only. If you arrive early, you can get a table for free as long as it is not reserved.
