Walnut Creek Elementary School District in the central Bay Area is a typical TK-8 district. Neighborhood Walnut Creek is a rare mix of commercial, residential, and open space areas. The district is responsible for meeting the educational needs of approximately 3,600 students at six primary schools and one middle school. The 6th elementary school, a K-8 school, opened in 2015. GradeTK-5 students mainly study in self-contained classes, while grade 6-8 students are enrolled in both core and elective courses.
