Walnut Creek Intermediate (WCI) is built on a strong base of parental support, community engagement and a deep dedication to providing our students with the best possible instruction. WCI is committed to delivering a rigorous and engaging curriculum, using best teaching practices; promoting student, staff and community pride in our school; developing an atmosphere in which students celebrate and value diversity and take on personal responsibility; using resources to provide unsafe student interventions; and establishing relationships between students, staff and parents; Our society is diverse in both cultures and race.

This year, Walnut Creek Intermediate revised its Statement of Vision and Mission to better reflect the new District Vision and Mission as well as the community at large. They envision inspiring self-reliant, open-minded, and caring lifelong learners, who contribute positively to the global community.

The school’s mission is to educate students in a rigorous, welcoming and engaging atmosphere that respects diversity and encourages creative and imaginative thinking while fostering responsible citizenship. In Grades 6-8, Walnut Creek Intermediate serves 1,063 students.

For the 2016-17 academic year, the number of students attaining Math skills is 67 percent (which is higher than the California state average of 38 per cent). The number of students attaining Reading / Language Arts skills for the 2016-17 school year is 72 percent (which is higher than the California state average of 48 per cent).

For the 2016-17 academic year, Walnut Creek Intermediate put average test scores in the top 10 percent of all schools in California (math ability is top 10 percent, and reading ability is top 20 percent).
