The original 30,000 square foot play area was one that dated back to the early 1990s and required a major renovation to bring it to current code enforcement and bring back the fun. Heather Farm Park is the City of Walnut Creek’s largest public park, including an Aquatic Pool, Tennis Center, Skate Park, ball fields, and park-walking parks. The City wanted a truly unique park, a destination that also gave children of all abilities fully inclusive play. What came out of this dream was the newly built —- All Abilities Playground at Heather Farm Park which opened in October 2014!

Beginning in 2013, Carolyne Challice, an architect with the City of Walnut Creek, started to imagine what a new All Abilities Playground would look like and how it could better serve the city and the surrounding neighborhoods that call the park home. With the additional support of Borrecco / Kilian & Associates ‘ landscape architect Brian Kilian, Ms. Challice reached out to three different manufacturers and began to get ideas for scope. They selected Miracle PlaySystems through this phase to build and supply the equipment at the core of this unique park. Miracle Recreation & HAGS ‘ custom-designed playgrounds, along with Rocks & Ropes ‘ rocks, boulders & fallen trees as well as Sun Ports ‘ unique shade structures all work to add the exciting area.
